Popular morning show team ‘Dave, Shelley & Chainsaw’ now off the air

On January 4, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

For the third time in less than five months, Clear Channel Communications is dropping one of its most popular morning shows, after the announcement that the 101 KGB morning radio show “Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw” is off the air.

An announcement that the radio show, which featured hosts Dave Rickards, Shelly Dunn and Cookie “Chainsaw” Randolph, is no longer on the air was posted Monday on KGB’s Web site.

“After extensive negotiations, and offering the DSC team a very lucrative, multi-year offer, we were unfortunately not able to reach an agreement to keep the show with KGB,” the statement reads. “We wish Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw all the best in their future pursuits and thank them for their contribution to the station,” the statement continues. “KGB has had a special relationship with listeners in San Diego as the leading classic rock station for many years. We look forward to continuing that tradition.”

Rickards told NBC San Diego he was notified of the cancellation over the weekend.

“We want to be on KGB,” he said. “We want to finish our careers there. We hope that can still happen, but that looks unlikely.”

The decision comes just weeks after it was reported that Mikey Espraza, host of the popular “Mikey Show” on Rock 105.3 was leaving the station after a contract dispute. In August 2009, ClearChannel chose not to renew the contracts of Jeff Detrow and Jerry Cesak [1], hosts of “The Showgram” on Star 94.1. Detrow and Cesak insisted that their five-person morning show team be offered contract extensions as well, but the communications corporation wouldn’t budge. Jeff & Jer have yet to be picked up by another San Diego station.

Self-described as "a little community with a lot of rage," you can soak up impassioned vibes and read blistering exposes detailing sexist attitudes in the news, pop culture, and science! A must-join community if you are, or love, a feminist. (NB: the topic of whether a "man" can be a feminist is outside the scope of this spotlight, but will probably wind up on the Writer's Block.)

Thanks in advance.

I have for sale a 2005 iMac G4 and a 2007 HP Laserjet 3050. Nothing is wrong with either of these items, we just have new ones and better ones. The Mac has all its original packaging and even some extras like a DVD burner and wireless mouse and keyboard. The HP is a fax and scanner as well as a printer. Both have been loved and treasured; my iMac was the machine I used to write my doctoral dissertation. $150 for the iMac, $50 for the HP, $175 for both.

I know this has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find it when I went looking.

Can anyone recommend a good not too expensive hair salon that is good for color?

I'm in Mira Mesa, but don't mind driving somewhere to get good service that isn't going to cost me hundreds of dollars.

Thanks in advance!
